The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique watches – Sporty edginess in a sophisticated collection
The story of Chopard and the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique (GPMH) is the tale of a meeting between two worlds with converging values: traditional watchmaking and sports cars. As official timekeeper of the event since 2002, we have created a collection of exceptional chronographs paying homage to the competition.
Organised by the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), the GPMH is an impressive historical retrospective of Monaco’s famous Formula 1 race. Every two years, more than 200 drivers from 19 different countries line up at the starting line with exceptional Grand Prix racing cars from between 1947 and 1978, competing in one of the seven categories listed by the organisation. This event is unquestionably the most prestigious of all classic car races, attracting collectors from all over the world to compete in a fiercely contested series.
Inspired by the Formula 1 race cars from the 70s in terms of both their finishing and their performances, the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique watches are all equipped with a calibre that is chronometer certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
The 2012 and 2010 editions of G.P.M.H timepieces blend together a true-blooded racing pedigree and the luxury of mechanical perfection. These watches can easily suit the tastes of high-speed aficionados who are looking for sporty-edginess in a sophisticated watch. Available in 18-carat rose gold, titanium or stainless steel, these 42.40 millimeters timepieces will pair very favourably with any driver’s look. Their gorgeous bracelet with orange or blue touches is an instant stand-out feature and adds yet another sleek touch. A watch to enjoy fully during your leisure time!
