Interview of Karl-Friedrich Scheufele at Baselworld

BASELWORLD is one of the most prestigious events for watch enthusiasts around the world. We sat down with our Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele to know which watches were proudly sitting on his wrist during the International Watch & Jewellery Show.

Which watch did you wear this year at Baselworld?

Karl-Friedrich Scheufele: “During Baselworld I wore our new L.U.C Perpetual T, featuring a tourbillon with a perpetual calendar in platinum – coming soon! This chronometer perfectly showcases the superb craftsmanship and exceptional development skills of our teams.”

Every morning, what makes you lean towards a particular watch?

Karl-Friedrich Scheufele:  “In general I choose the watch I wear according to the activity planned for the day: office, travel or sports. Very often our R&D department also asks me to test a new movement in a prototype watch or even client’s timepieces which came back for repair. Sometimes I will let my mood guide me and wear a watch with a dial matching the color of my tie or shirt. Putting on one of our earlier Mille Miglia watches for sports for example is fun as well…

Among our 2015 novelties, is there another achievement that you are especially proud of?

Karl-Friedrich Scheufele: “For the first time, we introduced a Mille Miglia watch equipped with an in-house Chopard movement coming from our Fleurier Ebauches workshop, certified by the COSC. This epitomizes our never-ending quest for excellence and independence. Further, for the second year in a row, we presented a L.U.C timepiece made from “Fairmined” gold. In 2014, we launched the L.U.C Tourbillon QF Fairmined. This year, we are introducing a larger limited edition of 250 pieces of the ultra-thin L.U.C XPS in “Fairmined” gold. Our Journey to sustainable luxury continues. It is a long and ambitious initiative, but it is worthwhile.”
