L.U.C Chopard Classic Weekend Rally – 2013
On June 2rd 2013, the eleventh L.U.C Chopard Classic Weekend Rally took place in Moscow. This year, 73 old-timers followed the famous itinerary from Tretyakovysky Proezd to Barvikha Luxury Village. The oldest participant of the event was the first electric car in the world, the Waverly Electric, manufactured in 1913.
The 2013 rally gathered an unprecedented number of automobiles unusual by their technical and historical aspect. For example, Marina Mamontova, Moskapstroy president, was driving a snow-white Rolls-Royce / Silver Cloud III manufactured in 1965, which previously belonged to Jacqueline Kennedy. Viktoria Agapova, presenter on radio station «Serebryany Dozhd», was at the wheel of a 1978 Mercedes-Benz, which belonged to Vladimir Vysotsky.
An elaborate decoded 3-hour itinerary was worked out for the contestants. Occasional rainy weather and heavy Moscow traffic proved to be a serious obstacle, and the struggle for the main prize – L.U.C timepiece– turned out truly spectacular.
