This Baselworld Edition has been filled with vibrant emotions, surprising innovations and important statements. After Chopard’s commitment to 100% ethical gold announced at the ‘Sustainable Luxury’ Press Conference, let’s now focus on the exquisite watch creations that will beat on your wrist in the upcoming seasons.
The super-chic, athleisure-inspired Happy Sport celebrates 25 years of modernity and free-spirited movement! Born in 1993, the now iconic watch is considered as far more than an elegant object to tell time, but more as the first collectible watch line, enchanting women with the endless Happy Diamonds waltz dancing freely onto an ever-changing dial. The Happy Sport is also a story of boldness. Caroline Scheufele dared to associate steel and diamonds, an unprecedented move that made Happy Sport stand out in the feminine watchmaking world.
This Spring signs the reinterpretation of the Happy Sport Oval, a distinctive shape explored in the Happy Sport line from the beginning. Revamped in a version topped with an 18ct rose gold bezel and graced with seven diamonds moving playfully across the silver-toned guilloché dial, it is exquisitely completed by colorful alligator leather straps ranging from noble royal blue to deep navy blue. Behind every second of joy lies a mechanical self-winding movement developed by the Chopard manufacture.
Declined in a more precious variation, diamonds on the bezel leave room to pink sapphires framing seven moving gems (two diamonds, two pink sapphires and three rubies) whirling across a dainty mother-of-pearl dial, delicately attached on the wrist with a fuchsia pink alligator leather strap.
A 25th Anniversary is always a landmark occasion. To celebrate the Happy Sport line in style, Chopard enabled the magic of the Maison’s Mains d’Art express their most prestigious artistic crafts by creating exceptional Happy Sport models declined in 25-piece limited editions.
Exuding eternal glamour, the Cannes Film Festival and its Palme d’Or trophy designed by Chopard since 1998 now inspire a sparkling ‘Fairmined’ model fully dressed in gold. Welcome the Happy Palm, studded with diamonds and beautifully adorned with a mother-of-pearl dial, where five moving diamonds and a mobile palm leaf channel their best red carpet pose.
Dive into the shimmering, undulating underwater world with the Happy Fish, a majestic timepiece inhabited by a fascinating gold and mother-of-pearl creature delicately assembled during 30 hours. Featuring graded shades created by snow-set sapphires and keeping a red jasper eye on the seven diamond bubbles swimming around, this fairytale tableau is the scene of a diamond-set bezel finished with a royal blue alligator leather strap.
In another chapter of the Happy storybook, Chopard tells the tale of fluffy snow crystals twirling in the magic of winter. A poetic timepiece, the Happy Snowflakes displays a powerful optical effect mastered through the expertise of mother-of-pearl marquetry, and hand-engraved motifs creating a striking effect of authentic snow crystals alighting on the watch before vanishing.
A pillar in Chopard’s watchmaking and synonymous with contemporary elegance, the L.U.C Collection brings new stellar members forward with various reinterpretations of iconic models unveiled at Baselworld 2018.
If there is one powerful detail that distinguishes a gentleman in the crowd of well-cut suits and polished shoes, it is a sophisticated timepiece. Reigning in the aesthete’s dreams, the new version of the L.U.C Quattro chronometer displays a unique sense of modernity with its redesigned dials and new calfskin leather straps. Proudly certified “Poinçon de Genève”, this timepiece features the signature L.U.C Quattro 6 o’clock dial, revamped in a silver-toned and vertical satin-brushed texture across its entire surface. At the heart of this outstanding watch beats a nine-day power reserve and one of the most original movements developed by Chopard Manufacture: the Calibre 98.01-L.
Among the reinvented classics presented at Baselworld 2018, Chopard introduced the new variation of the L.U.C Full Strike, known in the industry for its crystal-clear sound. Winner of the Aiguille d’Or Prize at the 2017 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, Chopard’s first minute repeater watch is adopting new handsome shades of grey, starting with its ‘Fairmined’ 18-carat white gold case. Offering a one-of-a-kind technology by striking the hours, quarters and minutes on sapphire gongs, it houses the Caliber 08.01-L, a prowess developed in almost 17,000 hours by Chopard Manufacture.
Launched in 2010 to honour Chopard’s 150th Anniversary, the L.U.C All-in-One demonstrates Chopard’s Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s deep-felt attachment for watch manufacturing that is respectful of the most refined rules of craftsmanship. A pinnacle of expertise and elegance, the new ultra-complicated L.U.C All-in-One features 14 indications on its two faces, including extensive calendar and astronomical functions. This exceptional tourbillon watch is issued in two limited series of 10 in platinum and 10 in 18-carat rose gold.
The L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru’s updated version appears adorned in 18-carat white gold with 3.05 carats of baguette-diamonds, making this ‘shaped’ chronometer even more precious. Designed like an outstanding wine, this line is a tribute to Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s passion for great vintages.
A poetic rendezvous since 2015, the L.U.C XP Esprit de Fleurier Peony presents once again a new vision of the peony’s fleeting beauty. Alongside the Fleurisanne engraving on the back-dial, it is celebrated with the delicate art of paper-cutting, making every second charming.
Chopard will meet you at the starting line of the “corsa la più bella del mondo” to tell you all about the Mille Miglia 2018 novelties. Be prepared to race colorfully with the Mille Miglia Racing Colours! Stay tuned!
