Chopard and cinema are engaged in a perpetually renewed love story together. As the jeweller of red carpets the world over, the Maison enjoys adorning actresses and actors with its creations, whether for appearances during the premieres of their films or during the shooting process. In Paramount Pictures’ film Rocketman, Chopard gives a uniquely special touch to Welsh actor Taron Egerton by lending watch and jewellery creations for his performance as Elton John.
The screen adaptation of this extraordinary and emotional trajectory was bound to enthuse Elton John's personal friend Caroline Scheufele. In the scenario, which subtly portrays the development of the personal style forged by the singer at the beginning of his career, the artist – played by British actor Taron Egerton – appears in many scenes wearing creations from the Maison, such as those belonging to its Happy Hearts, Happy Diamonds and Happy Spirit jewellery collections, Happy Sport watches as well as opulent models from the Animal World Haute Joaillerie range. Sparkling works of art chosen to represent the extravagance of the pop genius, known for the whimsical and eccentric look he adopted after his introverted childhood years. They reflect the changes to the artist's lifestyle following his irresistible rise to success and his entry into the world of luxury. Elton John's parents, played by Bryce Dallas Howard and Steven Mackintosh, also wear creations by the Maison.
Chopard’s archives notably feature various models specially commissioned by Sir Elton John, a friend of the Maison. The latter’s well-known record of philanthropic commitment includes many years of support to the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF). These close ties amply justify Chopard’s participation in this cinematographic work paying tribute to one of pop culture’s greatest icons.
