The Legendary Anecdote

In 1969, 240,000 spectators are attending the start of « Les 24 heures du Mans ». The drivers rush to quickly hop in their speed machines. All, except one. To protest against this type of start, Jacky Ickx walks to his GT40. He remembers the death of Willy Mairesse, who neglected his safety belt to win a few seconds. At the end, Jacky Ickx wins the race by the narrowest margin in its history: 120 meters, and thus the rules were modified to feature drivers already seated in the lined-up cars.
