L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 – Straw Marquetry Edition
Ref. Number:
161977-5011
Chopard presents a new edition of its L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 model, showcasing the Maison’s mastery of both Métiers d’Art and technical innovation. This exceptional creation combines Chopard Manufacture’s jumping‑hour movement with a dial crafted in straw marquetry following a complex geometric motif. This 18‑carat ethical rose gold version features a radiant blue straw marquetry dial and is limited to just eight pieces.
The dial pays tribute to a rare artisanal skill preserved within Chopard Manufacture: straw marquetry. Made from carefully selected rye straw grown in France, each strand is split manually with the thumbnail and then meticulously assembled by hand to form an intricate honeycomb pattern. This design is an homage to the Maison’s founder, Louis‑Ulysse Chopard, who chose the bee as an early emblem for its symbolic values: industrious, honest, and essential to the harmony of the hive. The hive thus becomes a metaphor for the collaborative work at the heart of a Manufacture. A window positioned at 6 o’clock displays the jumping hour with perfect legibility, while maintaining the pure aesthetics of the dial.
Powered by the L.U.C 98.06‑L calibre, this edition incorporates a highly appreciated complication—the jumping hour—enhanced by the ingenuity characteristic of Chopard. The energy needed for the instantaneous jump is supplied by the exclusive Chopard Quattro technology, which combines four stacked and series‑coupled barrels to deliver an exceptional power reserve of 192 hours. This architecture ensures a constant force to the escapement, stable amplitude, and a high level of chronometric performance. Remarkably thin at just 4.85 mm, the movement is equipped with a Phillips terminal curve balance spring and a swan‑neck regulator for highly precise adjustment.
The 40 mm rounded case takes its design cues from the pocket watches historically crafted by Louis‑Ulysse Chopard, reinterpreting their signature curvature in a contemporary form. The transparent case back reveals the refined architecture and meticulous finishing of the movement, reflecting Chopard’s uncompromising standards of craftsmanship.
The timepiece proudly bears the Poinçon de Genève, one of the most prestigious certifications in watchmaking. Reserved for watches assembled in the Canton of Geneva, it guarantees exceptional finishing quality for both the movement and the case.
