By unveiling the Alpine Eagle 41 AM timepiece in Lucent Steel™, Chopard marks a new milestone for the Alpine Eagle collection with the introduction of its first anti‑magnetic balance spring. This innovation enhances precision and reliability in everyday environments, where a watch is increasingly exposed to magnetic fields.
Magnetism has long posed a challenge for mechanical watchmaking. Everyday objects such as phone cases, audio equipment, bag closures, or laptops generate magnetic fields that can disturb the balance spring, often causing rate deviations or even bringing the movement to a complete halt. This issue has intensified with the widespread use of electronic devices and remains a key concern for precision timepieces in a technology‑driven world. Modern watchmaking has responded by developing advanced materials and innovative alloys for balance springs, designed to withstand strong magnetic influences and deliver stable performance despite regular exposure—an essential requirement that Chopard, for whom movement precision is paramount, cannot overlook.
At the heart of this 41 mm model beats the automatic Chopard 01.01‑C movement, equipped with an anti‑magnetic balance spring. Integrating such a balance spring significantly reinforces the movement’s reliability when faced with magnetic fields encountered in daily life. Tested at magnetic levels far exceeding those encountered in ordinary conditions, our calibre demonstrates excellent rate stability. The alloy from which it is made renders it naturally resistant to magnetism, ensuring dependable operation even when in contact with numerous magnetic objects encountered throughout the day. The movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), offers a 60‑hour power reserve, and features a stop‑seconds function for precise time setting. Chronometer‑certified by the COSC, it meets the demanding chronometric standards that define the Alpine Eagle collection.
With the unveiling of this model, a new dial color inspired by the beauty of the Alpine landscape makes its debut in the collection. “Moss Green” evokes the natural glow of a soft bed of moss found along woodland paths in the Alps. This subtle shade is enhanced by the radiant motif inspired by the eagle’s iris—an emblematic signature of the collection—creating depth and relief that draw the eye while preserving optimal legibility through luminescent hands and applied Roman numerals. A black seconds hand introduces a deliberate technical contrast, underscoring the watch’s precision without compromising its elegance. At 6 o’clock, a discreet crossed‑out magnet symbol, rendered in the same contrasting tone, attests to the reinforced anti‑magnetic performance of this model.
