    The L.U.C Full Strike – 2017 winner of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève – is taking on a new colour. This latest version of Chopard’s first-ever minute repeater watch is arrayed in shades of grey. It loses none of its revolutionary technical character, nor its unique sound quality. The hours, quarters, and minutes are marked by hammers hitting sapphire gongs for a crystal-clear chime. This is a truly outstanding watch, set apart by its original design, its hardened carburised Lucent Steel™ case, the superb Poinçon de Genève finishes, and above all, its extraordinary melodiousness. Sophisticated and easy to wear, it embodies the very best of the expertise, inventiveness and quality that distinguish the L.U.C collection.

    Entirely developed, produced and assembled in the Chopard Fine Watchmaking workshops, the L.U.C 08.01-L calibre is the first manually wound minute repeater movement in the world to feature a striking system whose gongs and sapphire crystal form a single monobloc. It boasts two barrels: one for the hour, which guarantees the watch a 60-hour power reserve, and the other for the striking mechanism, which enables it to sound the longest time indication, 12:59, twelve times. In addition to bearing the Poinçon de Genève and holding COSC certification as a Chronometer, this movement enabled the development of a unique on-demand striking system, as well as four patents.

    In the midst of the 1990s, when traditional watchmaking was striving to recover from the sweeping influence of the quartz crisis, Chopard Co-President, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele created a workshop responsible for developing the first in-house calibre to pay tribute to the legacy of the Maison's founder, Louis-Ulysse Chopard. Named L.U.C 96.01-L, the automatic micro-rotor movement, versatile and unrivalled at the time, marked the birth of Chopard Manufacture and the L.U.C. luxury watch collection.
