Giorgia Mondani gets the Chopard insider track

Watches that reflect strong traditions

With Juan, Haute Horlogerie & Heritage Specialist, acting as guide for the occasion, the visit is an opportunity to explore the rich history of Chopard, a legacy that still shines through today. Who knew for example that the L.U.C collection is named in tribute to watch company founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard, or that the collection’s first watch, the1860 refers to the foundation date?

Among the numerous watches on display, some iconic models immediately catch the eye: the very first Happy Sport from 1993, ground-breaking as the first stainless steel sports watch with diamonds; the St. Moritz from 1980; but also every Mille Miglia model produced since 1988.

Alpine Eagle and L.U.C, two inspiring collections

There is nothing like taking the time to get up close and personal with a curated selection of fine watches, especially when it comes to discovering a new collection.

Three generation of Chopard gentlemen are behind the design of the Alpine Eagle collection that has its DNA in the St. Moritz created by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.

Whether it is the 41 mm Alpine Eagle in gold with blue dial or in steel, the Alpine Eagle flyback chronograph with its 44 mm case in steel or two-tone or the “Frozen” model for women fully set in diamonds – Giorgia’s favourite, the collection’s watches exude a strong personality.

While Alpine Eagle models represent a contemporary take on the sport-chic watch, the L.U.C collection is known for prestigious limited-edition models, with only 4500 L.U.C models produced every year.

The collection also contains several highly collectible pieces such as the ultra-limited 10-piece only Perpetual calendar tourbillon and the Full strike limited edition in platinum (20-pieces only), perhaps the most special piece from the L.U.C collection, with its skeletonized workings allowing the unseen to be seen.
