76th Cannes Film Festival

Chopard Official Partner of the 76th Cannes Film Festival

Chopard loves cinema, as is vividly illustrated by its latest campaign inspired by behind-the-scenes moments with its Global Ambassador, Julia Roberts.

As official partner of the Cannes Film Festival since 1998, in 2023 the Maison will once again accompany numerous film actors, directors and professionals for the 76th edition of the world's greatest cinema event. In addition to crafting the legendary Palme d’Or and closing ceremony trophies, Chopard will also honour the promising careers of a young actor and actress with its prestigious Trophée Chopard.

This year, Caroline Scheufele has chosen 'Art' as the theme for the Maison's glamorous annual grande soirée and coveted Red Carpet Collection. This will encompass a dazzling display of all the noblest forms of human ingenuity, from architecture and sculpture to painting, music, literature, dance and of course – cinema.

Crafted in the same workshops as the Palme d’Or, the 76 Haute Joaillerie masterpieces in the Red Carpet Collection will bring Chopard's signature emotion to the traditional staircase ritual, illuminating the ensembles of many of the stars as they promote their films. Alongside showcasing the Maison's luxury watches and jewellery expertise, the Chopard Rooftop at the Martinez Hotel will set an unmissable scene for experiencing the excitement of this iconic Cannes fortnight.

Red Carpet Collection 2023

The annual creation of an Haute Joaillerie collection that features the exact number of jewellery treasures matching the latest edition of the Festival represents an incredible challenge. As Chopard masterfully achieves this feat year after year, each piece of diamond jewellery in the Red Carpet Collection highlights the talent, expertise and boundless creativity of the Maison's Artisans.

On the occasion of the 76th Cannes Film Festival, Chopard once again achieves the peak of jewellery artistry with its presentation of the Red Carpet Collection. Emotive, daring and technical excellence are the hallmarks of this 2023 edition, through which the Maison demonstrates its affinity with the Arts in the creation of no less than 76 Haute Joaillerie masterpieces, as designed by Caroline Scheufele. Reflecting the infinite curiosity of Chopard's Co-President and Artistic Director, the essence of each creation owes its fascination to Scheufele's ability to perceive and capture the most ornate details – whether from architecture, museums, galleries, conversations, nature or starry nights.

Fusing this exceptional creativity with time-honoured jewellery-making expertise that's been passed down from generation to generation in the Chopard workshops, the Red Carpet High Jewellery Collection brings further anticipated emotion to the Cannes Festival.

The Palme d'Or

As the one and only jeweller granted the right to craft the Palme d'Or, the most prestigious of all cinematography awards, since 1998 Chopard has cultivated exceptional ties with the Cannes Film Festival. The undisputed emblem of the Cannes Festival, the Palme d'Or remains the symbol of the unique relationship between Chopard and the silver screen, as is authentically articulated by its campaign: "Chopard Loves Cinema". Completely redesigned by Caroline Scheufele in 1998, Chopard chose to transform the award into a truly precious jewel by using 18-carat yellow gold and rock crystal. Freshly interpreted with volume and movement, the 19 leaves of the ‘divine’ golden palm branch appear to be undulating in a sea breeze, while the stem is tipped with the Geneva-based Maison's signature heart. In line with the Maison’s commitment to sustainable luxury, the trophy has been crafted in its Haute Joaillerie workshops from Fairmined-certified ethical gold since 2014. Brought to life by skilful Chopard artisans, its one-of-a-kind design rests on a block of rock crystal in the form of an emerald-cut diamond, whose natural inclusions render it truly unique.

Natalie Portman, Godmother of the 2023 Trophée Chopard

Natalie Portman will be the godmother of the Trophée Chopard, which will be awarded at the 76th Cannes Film Festival during a prestigious dinner on May 19th. At the invitation of Iris Knobloch Thierry Frémaux and Caroline Scheufele, the event will be dedicated to the theme of skills transmission, as the two laureates are decided by the votes of the Académie du Trophée Chopard, composed of winners and godparents of previous editions. Who better to entrust this honour to than this Israeli-American actress who in the course of her almost 30-year career to date, has masterfully played an impressive variety of roles in more than 60 films and five series, as well as becoming involved in production? Longstanding film-lover Caroline Scheufele comments on the choice of this exceptional godmother: "Natalie Portman is a cinema legend whom I have always admired, not only for her immense talent as an actress, but also for her commitment as a woman of strong convictions. I know that she pours her entire heart into her projects, and it is with strong emotional engagement and a caring attitude that she will present the awards to the winners of the 2023 Trophée Chopard.”
