Ref. Number:161984-1001

Description

The L.U.C XP Skeletec is among the world’s thinnest and most perfectly crafted self-winding skeleton watches, and it now takes on new elegance for Chopard Manufacture’s 25th anniversary. Just 7.2-millimeter thick, it has been widely admired since its 2012 launch for its combination of technical superiority and artisanal finesse. In renewing its design, Chopard Manufacture brings fresh elegance to this masterpiece, with an even more open dial to showcase the L.U.C 96.17-S movement, a refined aesthetic, and a case made of ethical 18-carat white gold. Created entirely in-house, with a skeletonization executed by hand at the Maison’s Fleurier workshops, the L.U.C XP Skeletec is one of the most exquisitely understated expressions of Chopard’s Fine Watchmaking mastery.

Movement

Entirely developed, produced and assembled in the Chopard Fine Watchmaking workshops, the ultra-slim L.U.C 96-17-S calibre, the first skeletonised movement by the Chopard Manufacture, combines technical sophistication with refined elegance. This self-wound mechanical movement beats to a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and possesses a 65-hour power reserve thanks to Twin technology, a system patented by Chopard combining two coaxial barrels, a particularly remarkable technical achievement in view of the extreme slenderness of the movement at just 3.3 mm of thickness. Its baseplate, decorated with the Geneva Stripes pattern on the dial side, and its bridges are meticulously openworked to reveal the heart of the movement. Its internal components are rhodium-plated, creating a contrast that cleverly brings attention to the gold-plated cogwheels visible on the dial side and through the caseback.

Design
Elegance through transparency

The elegant design of the L.U.C XP Skeletec men's ultra-thin watch revolves around the delicate interplay between the skeletonised movement and the ring that surrounds it on the dial. Chopard Manufacture's designers have enlarged the central aperture to reveal the beauty of the skeletonisation work and the technical complexity of the calibre of this luxury watch.

Watchmaking expertise
Ultra-thin movement

Measuring just 3.3 millimetres thick, the movement of the ultra-thin L.U.C 96.17-S is a marvel of technical refinement. Chopard Manufacture has designed a gold micro-rotor that is on the same level as the bridges of the movement and preserves its slenderness, while Chopard Twin technology offers a a generous 65-hour power reserve thanks to two coaxial barrels. The thinness of the L.U.C XP Skeletec model does not hinder the full functionality of this high-performance luxury watch for men demonstrating proven reliability since the time of its launch.
