L.U.C XPS Twist QF Fairmined – Less is more
A pioneer in the development of sustainable luxury, Chopard is launching a new limited-series L.U.C watch crafted in ethical rose gold. The L.U.C XPS Twist QF Fairmined is an ultra-thin model mingling ethical, aesthetic and technical qualities. It contributes to improving the living conditions of the miners who extract its raw material; it distinguishes itself on the wrist by its chic and edgy appearance; and it has successfully undergone the watch industry’s most demanding certification protocol: the Fleurier Quality Foundation label.
Chopard is a pioneer in the use of Fairmined gold for Haute Horlogerie watches within the framework of its long-term project “The Journey to Sustainable Luxury”. The Fairmined label ensures that gold is extracted in a responsible manner by small-scale mining communities, in which both miners and the environment are properly treated and that the buyers pay a premium in addition to the fixed gold price that is duly reinvested in community projects. To guarantee the traceability of the “Fairmined” gold used in-house, Chopard has set up a specific operational protocol in its Geneva workshops, where “Fairmined” gold is never mixed with other gold alloys and even the waste is dealt with separately.
Produced in a 250-piece limited series, the L.U.C XPS Twist QF Fairmined has also successfully undergone all the testing stages of the Fleurier Quality Foundation certification process – the most demanding in the watch industry. The L.U.C XPS Twist QF Fairmined is equipped with a self-winding movement: L.U.C Calibre 96.09-L equipped with two barrels (Twin® technology), wound by a 22-carat gold micro-rotor in 22-carat gold ensuring a comfortable 65-hour power reserve.
Its precision is tested by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), which awards the watch the sought-after chronometer title. Its reliability is then verified by the Chronofiable protocol.
L.U.C Lunar One – Moonlight on platinum
First presented in 2005, the L.U.C Lunar One has over the years become the stellar model in the Chopard Haute Horlogerie collection. This perpetual calendar watch with large date and moon-phase display is introduced this year in platinum. Its multiple indications, its elaborate finishing, as well as its classic and masterful play on colours, make it a perfectly legible miniature watchmaking masterpiece. The L.U.C Lunar One is an essential item for modern gentlemen who are connoisseurs of excellence and betokens a pronounced taste for exceptional objects.
Calibre 96.13-L is a gem in the crown of Chopard Manufacture. Its perpetual calendar always gives the correct date, whatever the length of the month and including February with its exceptions. It is distinguished by its unique moon-phase display. The latter is not merely a disc rotating beneath the dial, but instead a complex set of components indicating the exact appearance of the moon. The L.U.C Lunar One is one of the very rare perpetual self-winding calendars, as well as part of an even smaller number to be equipped with a micro-rotor. The latter made of solid 22-carat gold is incorporated within the movement thickness which makes it slimmer and allows the owner to admire it in the most beautiful way.
With its bevelled bridges adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif, its circular-grained baseplate, its mirror-polished steel parts and its regulator with swan’s neck adjustment, not only does it meet the highest quality standards of Chopard Manufacture, but also bears the prestigious Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark to which Chopard has remained loyal for many years.
L.U.C Perpetual Chrono – The grand complication for collectors
Endowed with one of the most sophisticated styles and constructions in the world of Haute Horlogerie, the 20-piece L.U.C Perpetual Chrono limited edition is intended for modern gentlemen, connoisseurs and devotees of exceptional objects.
Entirely developed and produced in the Chopard Haute Horlogerie workshops, L.U.C calibre 03.10-L is built around a column wheel that controls all chronograph operations including the flyback function. Zero-resetting is done by means of progressive-contact hammers, a guarantee of precision. It ensures smooth yet firm activation of the timing-related components via a vertical coupling clutch. This was the exceptional base mechanism chosen to house the perpetual calendar of the L.U.C Perpetual Chrono.
The L.U.C Perpetual Chrono has earned double certification. The rating precision of its L.U.C Calibre 03.10-L has been certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). In parallel, each of these platinum watches – meaning both movements and cases – has successfully met the evaluation criteria of the Poinçon de Genève.
The L.U.C Perpetual Chrono stems from high standards embodied in exceptional materials. After a limited series in Fairmined gold launched in 2016, the L.U.C Perpetual Chrono appears in platinum this year. 950 platinum is a supremely noble and completely stable metal featuring a dark and neutral shade of grey.
