Chopard at the 2023 Venice Film Festival

Chopard & the cinema

Chopard is once again proud to be present at the annual Venice Film Festival taking place at Venice Lido from 30th August to 9th September 2023. Driven by Chopard Co-President and Artistic Director, Caroline Scheufele’s passion for the seventh art, the Maison has a longstanding love affair with cinema, and a long history with this iconic event in the silver screen diary which has seen the launch of some of its most spectacular jewellery creations.

The oldest of all film festivals

Launched in 1935, the Venice International Film Festival is the oldest of its kind and one of the most prestigious in the world. Its aim is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. It presents a selection of world-class films, bringing some of the most successful directors and actors of our time to the red carpet at Lido di Venezia, continuing a tradition of compounding a wonderful artistic program with stunningly glamorous charm. The Festival also organises retrospectives and tributes to major figures as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema. Officially recognised by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association), the 80th Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera.

Chopard and Venice:
a shared love of art

With its 1,600 year-old-history including the Renaissance Grand Canal, gondolas, Piazza San Marco, Byzantine mosaics, St. Mark’s Basilica and, Venice is a unique artistic achievement in itself whose influence on the development of architecture and monumental arts is considerable. What could be more fitting than for the oldest film festival in the world to be held here annually – another venerable tradition to which Chopard, the red carpet jeweller, is proud to have been a part on many occasions? Whether it’s gazing from a gondola, admiring the architecture of the Rialto Bridge, the artworks of the Museo Correr or the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, or enjoying an evening of ballet or music at the Teatro La Fenice; or simply maxing out on movies at the Film Festival, Venice is an impossibly romantic destination in perfect sync with Chopard’s passion for the arts – and love.
