6 Different Métiers d’Art

Today, more than 50 skills are mastered within the workshops of the Maison, including some of the rarest and the most complex.

Combined with a constant quest for excellence, these enable a freer and more innovative creative expression, thereby guaranteeing the highest standards of quality.

Hand Engraving

Each element is drawn, sculpted and then meticulously modelled using various tools (different size burins, burnishers and chisels).

Miniature painting

Combining traditional skills with cutting-edge techniques, the enamel then undergoes laser ablation to create a spectacular dragon in relief. Its twisted body is crafted using miniature painting.

Marquetry

The horns are made in micro-marquetry using six different types of wood. The bead clutched in the dragon's claws and the clouds through which it moves are made from mother-of-pearl, enhanced by a hand-engraved gold mane and moustache.

Grand Feu Enameling

A decorative technique cultivated since the 17th century and now perpetuated by only a handful of master Artisans, including one within Chopard Manufacture.

gemsetting

Bezels are richly paved with diamonds, thereby perpetuating one of the historical watch ornamentation skills preserved by the Scheufele family.

Urushi lacquer painting

All 88 of these spectacular dials have been produced in the workshops of century-old company Yamada Heiando and crafted by master artist Minori Koizumi, a meticulous task requiring no less than 20 hours for each one.
