RESPONSIBLE SOURCING PROGRAMME

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARTNERS

Our Responsible Sourcing Programme strives to achieve the best sustainability practices in our supply chain with monitoring and implementing our suppliers’ capacity building.

In an industry with complex supply chains, risk areas need to be screened from the bottom up and mitigated by tailored-made responsible sourcing policies, along with risk mapping, processes, and procedures. This allows us to measure our supply chains’ performance against specifc indicators to continuously improve our system and sourcing strategy.

At Chopard, the sustainability manager is in charge of the Responsible Sourcing Programme, not only leading sourcing policy development and implementation, but also working hand in hand with the purchasing team at each stage of the process.

Within the framework of our Responsible Sourcing Programme, the Chopard Code of Conduct for Partners places specific responsibilities on all suppliers and sub-suppliers around the world covering good corporate governance, human rights, labour practices and environmental protection standards. The Code of Conduct for Partners outlines our expectations regarding responsible business practices from all downstream partners, and we require all our business partners to adhere to this policy.

DUE DILIGENCE PROCESS

In addition to requiring suppliers to abide by our Code of Conduct for Partners, our Responsible Sourcing Programme includes a risk-based due diligence approach in five steps to significant product categories and raw materials (precious metals, precious stones, steel and leather).

For each sourcing project, such as a new artisanal mine value chain or sourcing a new stone for the Green Carpet Collection or any special collection, we also apply strict due diligence with our supplier, verifying their own due diligence process and conducting a through desk review onsite (e.g. at the refiner’s facility).

The due diligence process of our Responsible Sourcing Programme is implemented in compliance with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, RJC COP2019, UN Guiding Principles in Business and Human Rights and with the international Sustainable Procurement Guidance (ISO20400:2017).

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Our Journey to Sustainable Luxury strives for continuous improvement, which is why we monitor the performance of our sourcing practices and the effectiveness of our Responsible Sourcing Programme through the regular measurement of selected indicators.

Based on these results, we implement continuous improvement actions and regularly revise our responsible sourcing protocol – composed of our Sourcing Policy, Code of Conduct for Partners, Sustainability & Human Rights Risk Mapping – and related procedures.

Alongside key performance indicators, our due diligence process is assessed every three years by an independent third-party auditing firm.
