A design that is both refined and contemporary, featuring a wealth of references to the Alpine eagle and its natural habitat. When nature is your muse, the result can be nothing less than iconic.
Embellished with a sunburst motif, the galvanic blue or gray brass dial inspired by the iris of an eagle, reminds us that Nature is the most inspiring of muses.
With its counterweight shaped like an eagle’s feather, the rhodium-plated second hand takes the form of an arrow.
The gently tapered Alpine Eagle bracelet comprises a single ingot-shaped link, topped by a raised central cap recalling its mountain habitat. Crafted in Chopard Lucent Steel A223, it is a feat of both technical execution and style.
Evoking a spirit of adventure, the crown is engraved with a compass rose, an instrument that has helped adventurers find their way since ancient times. Today, it becomes the emblem of the accomplished man, capable of choosing the right direction in the pursuit of their destiny and an invitation to explore the majesty of the natural world that surrounds us.
[MUSIC PLAYING] KARL FRIEDRICH SCHEUFELE CHOPARD CO-PRESIDENT: It's hard to invent something, but it's even more difficult to reinterpret a great design. 40 years ago, I was involved in the design of the St. Moritz watch and the idea was to have a sports watch in steel, which was for our company revolutionary at the time. My inspiration comes from nature, from objects, from books. Basically, all of this ends up with some kind of inspiration. KARL FRITZ CHOPARD CO-PRESIDENT'S SON: When I went back and took a look at old sketches, that's really where everything started for me. This inspired me and we decided together what we could change and what we could modify together with my grandfather as well. KARL FRIEDRICH: The underlying principle for the design of the Alpine Eagle, and already of the St. Moritz, is that we apply the principle of form follows function. Every detail counts. KARL FRITZ: Every single edge has been mastered to perfection. KARL FRIEDRICH: A crown has a function but it's also a beautiful object. We use in-house automatic movements, which are chronometer-certified. KARL FRITZ: So the hands of the watch were inspired by the feathers of the eagle. You can see like this. The dial that recalls the eye of the eagle with its circular motion, and it really embraces the straight lines of the watch. KARL FRIEDRICH: For the Alpine Eagle, we retained the idea of having matte and polished surfaces. KARL FRITZ: With the Lucent Steel, what really strikes me the most is the really unique shine and the really unique glow to this watch. It's still a fascinating object. KARL FRIEDRICH: This collaboration between three generations on a watch project is basically unique in the watch industry. [MUSIC PLAYING]
